Rezz & Malaa – Criminals
Now here’s a collaboration that no one asked for, but everyone needs. I’d like to present to you today “Criminals” put together by the trippy bass tanks themselves, Rezz & Malaa. The two joined up to give their fans a special treat for Halloween and boy oh boy was the treat sweet. I’ve seen Rezz at EDC and I have to say her live set was pretty much what I expected, trippy. Malaa’s set in Brooklyn was also very wild in its own regard, the guy is very dark I must say. At both sets I felt like I was in that scene from Disney’s Pinocchio where Pinocchio winds up on an island out of free will where he can do whatever he wants, Pleasure Island it was called I believe. Let’s just say this collab will have you feeling out of place if you’re not used to both artists style, but none the less you will feel like you had an experience worth noting.
Diving into “Criminals” we set off with a really good start. The first half of the track is more Rezz centric I’m sure most would agree; it features this systematic well progressed gritty deep bass trance. The second half, which went a little off the wire for my taste, was Malaa’s doing I feel; take for it what you will. Both interesting beats but the first half was much more my speed than the second half. Being that first half carried the song so well, on an overall account I highly enjoyed the final result. Below be ready to be taken to Pinnochios ‘Pleasure Island’, I’m sure it will be quite the time.
