Oliver Nelson really knows how to make any time a great time with the jams he creates. Wither your wrapping gifts for your upcoming Uncles 50th, banging out the laundry that’s been well over due, or simply tending the garden in preparation for the Spring months ahead, his music will surely make you feel giddy as Poo Bear when he encounters fresh frothy pot of honey.
Lincoln Jesser Ft. Yuna – Baby Boy (Famba Remix)
A thoughtful take on the Lincoln Jesser & Yuna original, Famba provides a great soundscape in his rendition of “Baby Boy” that allows the listener to drift off with their thoughts turning any day into optimum delight. Smooth vocals, a clean arp, and a driving beat provide a powerful showcase of the importance to act in accordance with a desired path.
Bjonr Ft. Tom Bailey – Waiting
Bjonr keeps impressing me with his incredible production value that is not only captivating, but inspires the listener to move forward with optimism and a smile on big bright smile from cheek to cheek. The vocals, in essence, pass on a heartwarming feeling the community has described as an emanation of emotions capable of invigorating the soul with vitality.
KYLE. Ft. Wiz Khalifa – Moment
You heard me, step the fk up baby and show me what you got, because I know you all got what it takes out there. Everyone holds a hidden talent, and if it’s rapping, I want to see you out there firing up everything you have inside baby. When you hit that mic I want you to hit it hard.
G Jones – In Your Head (RL Grime Edit)
If you are looking to get completely obliterated, it is my recommendation that you immediately crank out to RL Grimes Edit of “In Your Head”, it will surely make your head spin in the best of ways. The original by G Jones is also fantastic, so if we’re being honest here I’d make sure you listen to both.
Big Wild – Joypunks
“Joypunks” features infectious vocal chops and energy capable of turning a bad day around or enhancing already present positivity. It’s certainly a favorite of mine which says a lot given the amount of time I’ve listened to the artist.
New Navy – Zimbabwe (Flume Remix)
This classic, ‘super chill’ remix by Flume is a fine example of what the young Australian artists has to offer. The track will truly envelope your senses with waves of rhythm that transport the listener through Flume’s highway, which he describes as a “clear blue skyway.” Truly one for the deep thinker.
NVDES – Do You Think About Me (filous Remix)
NVDES release ‘Do You Think About Me’ has been stuck in my head since I first heard it. After seeing it remixed by filous, I was eager to hear the outcome as I’ve been a fan of filous since basically the dawn of time, even if he’s only around 20 years old. The rendition is so catchy and provides a wonderful new feel to the original.
Cape Cub – Moonglow
The discovery of Cape Cub came about from their hit release “Swim” and from then the development into a massive fan of their work came rapidly within a short amount of time . Now we are presented with Cape Cub’s first full band single, “Moonglow” which brings the signature sound I was hoping for and with an even more inspirational touch than we expected, in addition.
GTA x Party Favor – Work It Out
Sometimes I like to get a little wild over here at Affinity Ascension so thank the skies that Party Favor & GTA came through with the goods containing their new release ‘Work It Out’, which has house shaking capabilities as well as potential to light up festival raves to grand proportions. It’s a banger that can be easily worked into a hard mix especially with the astral outro upon conclusion of the song.
NGHTMRE & Pell – Swiss / Lights Low
It’s always lovely to have a new audio experience from an artist you have followed for a while so naturally the NGTHMRE & Pell team-up was a breath of fresh air. I have a tendency to be extra selective when it comes to rap & hip hop but felt this was an organic culmination of sound between the two artists that flowed effortlessly, and naturally.
Arc North – Sweet Sunshine
After much consideration I can say without a doubt in my mind that this is one of the best tracks that I have ever listened to. The heavenly flurry of electronic elements Arc sourced alongside the insanely inspiring vocal exposition filled every square inch of my being with immersive pleasure.
South Soul Symphony – Another Day (Jay Vegas Tribute Mix)
There was a particular Sunday where it was also a Funday; had plans later to shred some Hibachi with the boys for brunch. Alexa came in hot with some top picks and out within the first three came “South Soul Symphony – Another Day (Jay Vegas Tribute Mix)”, a very groovy track that will transport you back to the disco days.
VOLO – Last Nomad
This has to be one of the most unique tracks I have heard in recent time, specifically due to it’s ability to take the listener on a hybrid journey sonically. At times it feels almost tribal in nature, and at other times eastern.
SHY Martin – Forget To Forget
SHY Martin continues to impress with her radio-ready hits and it’s no different with “Forget to Forget”. Seductive vocals and a beat that will surely pull you in makes this one hard to forget. SHY Martin’s production value sounds a mile ahead, which makes her an artist we think you need to be on the look out for.
Indeep – Last Night A DJ Saved My Life (JM Jackmaster Edit)
Wowzers, all I want to do right now is hit up my besties and go out clubbing with them all after having listened to the JM Jackmaster Edit of “Last Night A DJ Saved My Life”. This jam will have you so grooved up you won’t know what to do with yourself for the rest of the day.
DallasK x Nicky Romero – Sometimes Ft. XYLO
I’ve been a huge fan of DallasK, Nicky Romero & XYLO for some time now so to listen to a collaboration of the trio is practically unimaginable to me. I hopped into this track knowing it would be a phenomenal piece of art and it turned out to be a hundred times better than my expectations.
Quinn Lewis – In Between
Funny enough, Quinn Lewis’ massive Hype Machine topping release, “Slipping” happened to slip past me during its initial release. Luckily I’m happy to have found him through his latest work, “In Between”. The piece features R&B elements with a catchy melody that I continue to have stuck in my head.
Obliques – Are You Still Mine?
‘Are You Still Mine’ is a track that has confined my ears in a chamber of classic reminiscence that I do not want to leave. Described as groovy fire by some and an extravaganza of throw back chill vibes by others, Obliques did an amazing job at creating a jam that is great for any occasion.
